The CD-ROM "EQUAD" deals with the most common diseases of the upper respiratory tract in horses. The topics are presented by means of Computer Based Training (CBT). The content is structured in symptoms, aetiology, diagnosis, therapy and management. The CD-ROM includes topic related drawings, pictures, videos, computer animations, audio, endoscopic and spirometric documentations, illustrated step-by-step surgery procedures, a topic related anatomy atlas, 3-D reconstructions of specific anatomical regions, a keyword search tool, the possibility to create and save own media sequences for lectures, a extensive reference list with direct link to the PubMed (National Library of Medicine) and printable scripts in PDF-format. The purpose of this educational CD-ROM is to offer a reference base, complementary to existing classic textbooks. It addresses veterinary students, postgraduates and residents preparing for their clinical or board examinations as well as equine clinicians for continuing education.
